not a superwoman

The exhibition, named “Not a Superwoman”, explores going beyond the surface of women who appear to be successful and are outwardly portrayed as ‘superwomen’. It aims to explore our shared humanity - that behind every ‘successful’ appearance are essentially the same fears and insecurities, hopes and desires, falling and restoring - manifested in different forms and stories.
Ten women in Hong Kong are chosen for this exhibition, each an advocate of a chosen field, ranging from musician, athlete, entrepreneur, philanthropist, artist, mother and more – to be a part of this portraiture series.
In this exhibition, we tell their stories to inspire our audience, men or women, to embark on their journey to seek and define their own beauty amidst an imperfect and uncertain world – and in that pursue a more meaningful and authentic life. We do not inspire and impact by being perfect, we do that by letting others know how we deal with our imperfections.
Real beauty is encountered - when we recognise that beyond all the excess noise and surface, what is in others is also in you - and out of that, may we gain the love and courage to be vulnerable, compassionate, and simply human.
